Vic Park grew and developed around our housing and today Connect’s units are interspersed in the community, close to cafés, restaurants and retail, easily accessible by public transport. We are a few blocks from the Swan River foreshore and a 10-minute bus ride to Perth's CBD.As a Community Housing provider, the rent we charge is related to tenants’ income (25% to 30%) and we never charge more than 75% of the market rent for a similar property in the Vic Park area.
Connect Community Housing offers independent living, which means tenants need to be able to perform daily tasks at home and care for themselves. As supportive landlords, however, we care about our tenants’ physical and mental wellbeing and refer tenants to appropriate external services. We also encourage our tenants to make the most of our Village Hub.
The Village Hub is located next door to our Community Housing units and all tenants are automatically members, with access to a wide range of activities and opportunities for social connection, as well as the chance to help shape a community of like-minded people interested in ageing successfully.
We know that appropriate housing is key for health and wellbeing, as it provides not only security and stability, but autonomy and freedom to pursue other interests, keep connected and contributing to community.
We manage our Housing + Hub with the aim of creating a sense of community, independence, security and an environment that encourages a sense of pride, happiness, pleasure and joy.
